Looking for a old friend of mine ,but only know her maiden name.how can I find what her name is now without going to a paid site?

Are there any of her family members still around, like parents or brothers whose names wouldn't have changed? Did she grow up in a certain town, that people there remember her and would know her current whereabouts?
