My dog is a 1 and a half year old Shih Tzu. A week ago, we took him to the groomers where he got all his hair shaved off and when we brought him back home he did not drink any water, urinate, or poo. He has however, eaten. After a couple of days he ended up urinating on the bed and ever since, refuses to urinate on his toilet. Before he got the haircut, he was perfectly potty trained and always did his business on newspapers (where he was supposed to). Is there something wrong with him now that he does not pee or poo on his toilet? I'm assuming he has been holding it in so how can we get him to go again? He also still refuses to drink water which worries us because he might be dehydrated.
So far, we took him to an emergency animal clinic. They ran blood tests for him and said there was nothing seriously wrong (no urinary infection). He was a little dehydrated but nothing serious. Unfortunately, the problem still occurs. We are not sure if the problem was caused from the haircut or if he has an illness. What can we do to get further help?
Thank you so much,
Tammy
