My wife and I recently purchased a piece of land(that is very wooded) to build our home on. We want to do much of the work ourselves. Were going to get a tractor W/ loader and backhoe. What should we look for? Size, brand, used? Just starting to look and am new to this. Price is a consideration.

I bought 7 acres, not really woody and a 20 hours tractor, 2 wd. What ever you do get a 4 wheel drive! Get the biggest you can afford. It will always do smaller stuff but if it is not big enough there is nothing you can do about that. The hours on a tractor are important. If it has stayed out in the wather look at hoses, belts, hydralics and make sure that the link that you attach things to has down pressue. Some don't and what ever you pull will just drag on the ground. Are you going to mow with it also? Some fill the tires with a mixture of water and antifreeze but I didn't because I mow with a finishing mower and don't want my yard tore up. The soil that you will be in is important too. See a tractor dealer and tell him you are asking not buying today... I hope this helps. Good luck!
