I know I had asked this question someone before and I cannot find the answer at the moment. So I decided to start a new thread just to deal with this issue. Sorry about that.

I have now have this pop up and I do not know what to do. I think this is appearing because I just put on Spyware blaster 3.4.

This is what the pop states:

I know I am putting other software on tonight, and I guess this popbox will appear again.

So the question now is do I allow or block this? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Do you think it is spyware blaster 3.4 or is something else attempting to load onto my computer. Please excuse my ignorance on this and my embarrassment. Thanks again for your anticipated help.

I do not want to proceed any further till I find the answer out to this. I am going to be leaving my computer to go out for a quick bite before the NHL hockey game an hour or so from now.

It sounds like you have turned on the Immunization part of Spybot.
I use SpyBot, but don't use this part of it... the pop-ups are too annoying.
You can try turning it off, by opening SpyBot.
Then, on the left, click on the Immunization icon. At the top, click on the "undo" icon, and it should stop it.
There is a free program I use to monitor and stop Spyware from getting into the computer in the first place. It's call SpyWare Blaster 3.4. You don't use it as a scanner, but can download anti-spyware definitions, just like the anti-virus program downloads definitions for viruses.

As the asker stated they already have spyware blaster, this is a message generated by Micro$oft antispyware app, with In my opinion is a complete waste of time as it does update enough.

Normally you are quite good at recommending anti spyware stuff, but you are WAY off this time.

OK now to answer the question.
Spyware Blaster CAN be used with Spybots immunize feature, works a teat in fact. I have been using both for a while, but to be honest I can't see much advantage to Spyware Blaster as Spybot covers it so well.

One of the Apps that comes with Spybot is called Teatimer, this is a real time scanning engine that monitors the registry for changes.
Slight down side is when ever you want to install a program it asks you to confirm the change, can get annoying but well worth it for the added protection.


The best thing to do is to allow the shell browser change as it can always be removed later. Its always worth using more than one anti-spyware scanner as they pick up different things.

Try Spybot S&D, Adaware and an excellent on line scanner is Trend's Housecall, which also does full virus scan as well.

You should only need to run Housecall once a month at most as long as you us at least one of the others.

I personnally won't both with Micro$oft's effort or Spyware blaster as the ones I have mentioned will keep you well covered.
