My wife's Honda Civic wouldn't start this morning. It started with her keyless entry not working and then when she tried to start the car, there was nothing. When I put the key in the ignition and put it in the "on" position, the dash lights flicker about 10 times and then come on like normal. When I push down on the brake pedal, the dash lights completely cut off and it seems like there is no power to the dash. The clicking and flashing of the dash lights when I first put the key to the "on" (II) position is very rapid. Can anyone help me as to what this sounds like? Is is a short or an alternator possibly? Any help would be greatly appreciated in this as I can't even get the car started to take it to a mechanic.

Check the battery... replace in need be.

Remove battery, place it on a charger, and clean battery terminals and connections.
