I have 1020 mb of memory, 2 510 mb cards. The other day I noticed a drop of over 200 mb. Checking it out I was surprised when the bios only registered 765 mb total memory. Bigger surprise when I did the math and discovered I had lost half of a cards 510 mb. Before I start yanking outboards and checking them out is it possible to lose 1/2 a boards memory? Or do I have a software problem? Thanks for your help. Tom

I'm suspecting that your motherboard does not support memory larger than 768mb. So even though you installed 2 memory stick of 256mb each, the bios would detect the max in it's settings. To resolve this, check with your motherboard manufacturer and see if they have new bios that will support larger memory.

My first post. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response Fuddy, This was a new computer that I had built to my specs. I oversized everything. Jumped the power up to 400 watts, supersized the cooling system, etc. I went in and pulled the two memory cards, reinstalled them and booted up. Everything's been working Ok. 750 mb of available RAM. Thanks again and good luck as a expert. I have been one for three years. I'm retired and this is my hobby. Cheers, Tom
