I know someone who has a sex offense from 20 years ago (with a girlfriend when he was 19, she was 21)...
He know has a 5 yr old son who's never lived with him, the son lived with his mother. Last year he was taken by Dept. Children and Families because mom was smoking crack, etc. He went to maternal granmother's. NOW, maternal grandmother wants to adopt him and neither parent (of the boy) have completed what's needed to gain custody.
The father now has another child on the way with another women (due in Jan). At the court hearing for the 5 yr old son this past week, he was told IF he tries to CONTEST the grandmother's adopting the child, that he would risk not being able to not see the 5 year old son, but ALSO never seeing his new child on the way. Some new law re: sex offenders?
IS THIS TRUE?? Can they actually take measures that would prevent him from being involved in this new babie's life? (He and the new baby's mom live 6 hours apart, and arent' together as a couple). Is there a new law re: sex offenders to back this up? He is 38 years old. Maternal grandmother of 5 yr old is LOADED and has the biig attorneys. Dad has no money, and assigned legal rep.
Anyone have input? THANKS!
