Can you at the Run line, type CMD, then ipconfig/all and see if it's there? Maybe you changed it.

Hi,

Thanks, cannot see what the ip address is from there, I think. I did however notice something on my 'connection specific DNS suffix'

It says ' quadriga-www.com', so you know what that is there for?

What line should it show my router IP address on?

Thanks for your help

At the CMD, try: tracert 4.2.2.1 or netstat -rn.
I have new Vista, and can't get my N router going, can't verify location. Sorry
It should start with 192.
Write all down, and try each.

Hi there, I'm on vista also.

The first IP it shows is 10.91.36.1. I connected to an unsecured wireless network near my house and did the same check, and I got their IP OK and when I tried to log on to it, it did get it, but was passworded, so at least it worked. My one didn't. I'm also at the point of dong a full reset and building it again from the beginning. It is as if someone had hacked it and changed it, given me access and kept security locked out. A bit worried now.

I think Reseting may be necessary, I believe I have seen changes and even wireless turned on, by hacking?
Did you see any that started with 168?
I think the 127... may be your computer?
Try dumping cookies, temp internet files, passwords.

I finally reset it, changed the router settings and then made it secure again. I also found that in order to get the my 192.168.0.1, I have to change it from 'obtain a ip address automatically to inputting the setting manually, then it allows me in. once I'am finished, I must change it back to auto, or I cannot access the internet.

So in short it now works and now does not look like someone had been playing about with it.

Thanks a lot for your help today, really appreciate it.

Hi there,

What I had to do was go into my network settings and

Select 'Use the following IP Address:

IP Address 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 (or if not, just let it be default)
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1

You can then ping 192.168.0.1 and you should be able to go in IE using that address and get into your router.

Remember to change it back to auto IP when finished.

At the CMD, Type tracert 4.2.2.1.
First number should be routers IP address. User/ none.
Edit, I just saw the date of post, still good info.
