Hello again, sweets:

I don't know. If you're an ax murderer they'll probably come after you. You DO have an address where you'd have the passport sent. No?

However, a BETTER way to handle this situation, is to hire an attorney in the town WHERE the warrant is, or might be to see if it is there or not. If it is, you're going to have to deal with it. If it isn't, then you can get a passport and travel the world.

But, I have no idea how some cop is going to react hearing from you.

Its for felony bad check.. from an ex.. his fault.. I was already on probation for felony bad check, (my own account), and so, an ex ruined our account.. I moved away, and my sister went to use my name one night when she got pulled over and got told there was a warrant.. ive tried contacting someone back home, but they say I need to come in and talk in person to get any info. Im not flying all the way home to get arrested.. I was thinking about calling my old probation officer and seeing what she says

Are you applying for a U.S. passport? If so, the passport office checks your name against a list. Basically, if you have any outstanding warrants, or child support owed over 5,000, you will be on this list. Also, any law enforcement can request your name to be placed on this list if they do not want you to get a passport, e.g. likelihood to flee to avoid prosecution, etc.

So, yes, you could be denied.

But since you live overseas, this may not apply.

Hello again, sweets:

That's why I told you to hire a LAWYER. If you call the cops, OF COURSE they're going to lie to you.

So, you're going to call your probation officer?? Right... They'll help you. Bwa, ha ha ha.

OH I don't trust them one bit.. but than again I don't exactly have money for lawyer... do you think maybe if I called the public defenders office.. they would help me.. and thanks for the advice.. only reason I was going to call my probation officer is cause after me and her having run ins, we finally got along, and she was happy to see I met a nice guy and was leaving my home town.. and this charge is from before my hubby, but the warrant came out after I moved.. but, I also want to fight it.. my ex is the one that put me in this situation.. im afraid of prison time for my second offense cause I had a violation on my last probation.. so, don't have a good record with the courts..

dont have a good record with the courts..Hello again, sweets:

ANY record with the courts ain't good.

In my view, if you force your PO to choose between keeping your confidence, and turning you over to the cops, I think she'd snitch on you in a heartbeat.

You DO have a shot at convincing someone at the PD department. After all, IF there IS a warrant, and you come back to face it, their office will be the one's to represent you in any case. All you'd be doing is seeking their counsel NOW.

MOST PD's wouldn't give you 10 seconds with that argument, but you have a shot. I think it's worth going after. I mean, it'll take him 2 minutes to find out for you. If you're good (and you sound good to me), I think you can do it.

If they don't, I can't see an attorney charging you more than $100 bucks to find out. Like I said, $100 bucks for 2 minutes is easy money.
