Ok.. so I have no idea what to do. I signed up for debt settlement in feb. Since then they have settled 4 of my debts. One however is proving to be very aggressive and is trying to place a judgement on me. I answered the summons I received. Today I received another paper stating they are trying for a judgement. I have 10 days to reply. I don't understand why they are doing this. I told them I am working with a debt settlement company to do what I can to pay my debtors fast. I told them I am putting away money in a third party account each month and we are working to meet my obligations. They have jumped all other avenues and are trying for a judgement. What can I do to slow this? The company I am working with said they may try to freeze my accounts? IS that true? I am an officer in my husbands company, we are self employed, I don't want that to hit the business. Should I take my name off as an officer? What will that do? I am lost and really freaking out. I tried to work with them and they refused to help us through a horrible winter. NO deference, lower payments, nothing. I did what I needed to do and now their coming after me even though my intentions are to still pay them. What can I do, if anything.

Go to your bank and talk to an officer about your problem. If I remember correctly, not all banks allow your accounts to be frozen(the IRS is an exception, of course). The terms of your agreement with the bank are contained on the signature card you signed when you opened the account, and of course, no one reads all that small print. :)

First step, go to your bank.
