Depends on the firearm and where you live.

I thought that you might find something helpful on the following sites:

totse.com | Texas Gun Laws as Compiled by the NRA (http://www.totse.com/en/politics/right_to_keep_and_bear_arms/txgunlaw.html)

Frequently Asked Questions for Texas Gun Owners by Donald Burger, Houston, TX (http://www.burger.com/gunfaqs.htm)

Texas Gun Law FAQ (http://www.io.com/~velte/FAQ.htm)

I would also think that if the firearms are disabled in some way so that they can never be fired, that you should be okay possessing them without a permit. I may be incorrect in that matter though. It does depend on the laws where you live and what firearms you own.
