Hello me and my husband have been taken to hell and back with our 12yr old daughter from having sex,running away,fighting,and stealing. It's to the point that she has stayed with every family member in the family to see if they could help assist us with our problem child, the last straw was when she caught an std and started playing hookie from school once her aunt and I found out about it she ran away and we still do not know of her where abouts. The aunt told me that after this last issue she can no longer care for her and that we are going to have to find somewhere for her to go. The promblem is she's too much of a handful and very disrespectful, and on top of it all she mistreats our 2yr old by biting her or pinching her and I will no longer allow this to happen. When I contact the police or the dfs or childern services all they can offer is in house consuling,we need some type of residentail service that isn't $1500.00 dollars a month we can not afford to pay for residentail treatment and this is exactly what we need. But my question is when and if we ever find her how do we go about signing over our parental custody, are there any penalties we may face and how do we start the process?

While I feel for you, I can't help but be aghast at your willingness to abandon your daughter.

Without knowing what triggered her behavior or what you have done to help her its very hard for us to advise. The best advice I can give you is to seek counseling to try and determine WHY she acts the way she does (might it have to do with a new baby?). Until that can be determined, I doubt if any court would allow you to just dump her.

Does she have any issues or diagnosis to something perhaps bi-polar or ODD?

This child needs help and quickly whenever you find her.
