A retailer spent $48 to purchase a number of mugs. Two mugs were broken, but by selling the rest of the mugs $3 above the original price, she made a total profit of $22.

Since 2 of the mugs were broken in the store, how can we represent the number of mugs that are available for sale?:confused:

hmmm... lets see now... p= price,x=number of mugs.

p=48/x
(3+p)(x-2)=22

Try solving that. (not sure though, I could be wrong:))
oh yeah this is a simultaneous equation so replace (3+P) with (3+48/x) and so forth...
