I need help...

Im a single mom, who did something terribly stupid... :( over the last year, I worked for a store in Manitoba, Canada... I needed money really bad and I wasn't getting enough hours at work and I ended up stealing money from my employer... as the year went by.. I tried to stop but things with my kids, my rent and medical bills would come up and since I had no help all from anyone else, I continued doing and doing it.

Well time went by and I got caught and now I am going to be charged... Worked contacted me and I confessed, they asked me for my bank statement and I gave them to them, I did not know how much I had stole until I added everything up and it came close to $20,000.

Now I am so afraid of what will happen to me . I do have a criminal record but its nothing as big as $20,000.

Can you guys please help me out? I need advice and be ready for whatever will happen to me.

Thank you.

Get a lawyer. This is not petty theft, its embezzlement. You could easily do jail time.

Those that are honest are the ones who get punished.

Why did you confess?

Anyway, Scott is right, you need a lawyer. At 20,000, that is a lot of money…..
