I had my daughter when I was 15 , and was forced really to have her adopted, not a day since has passed that I have not thought about her. I am now 36 and she was 21 in August. I would really like to find her and get a letter to her. I will leave it to her then if she wants to see me, but all I want is that she is okay and happy, maybe a picture would be nice , but a chance to explain myself. If something further develops and she wants to see me , or know about her background , then that would be fantastic.

Can you tell me what my next step should be ?

Good for you and keep trying. I am busy looking for my biological parents and have a lot of questions as to why they never sought me. My advice is be strong and have faith, and even if they don't care about who I am or how I've grown, I would still like to know who they really are. I wish you all the best.

Write a letter to be placed in her file, either with the adoption agency, or with the courts in the county where she was born, to be placed with her original birth certificate.

Good luck!

Contact the adoption agency that worked with you when you placed your daughter for adoption. Now they cannot tell you where your daughter is and they could not tell your daughter where you are either. BUT you can write that letter and have it placed in your records. If your daughter would search for you and contact that agency, she would be given that letter.

If you want to find your daughter and work on a reunion with her, start at the adoption agency. It might cost you. I know Catholic Family Services here charges about $800.00 for a parent to search for their child. They also charge the same for the child to search for their parent(s). Each agency will most likely be different, but do not be surprised when money is required.

If the agency would find your daughter they would tell her you are searching and ask permission for information to be exchanged. Same if she contacted them and asked about you. It goes from there.
