I have c Craftsman 16hp lawn tractor with a Peerless 206-545C transaxle. The transaxle is locked in gear and I cannot push the tractor. Upon examining the underside I noticed that the transaxle link is worn, cracked, and had actually fallen off the shift arm.
I have ordered a replacement transaxle link. I would like to be able to push the tractor out of the weather. My question is: Should I be able to move the shift arm by hand to get the transaxle into neutral? Or does the fact that I can't shift by hand indicate that there is a more serious problem than just the broken transaxle link? Any ideas?
Thanks,
