What kind of business do you need a name for?

Umm this isn't the psychic forum. A business name should reflect the business.

Whatever the business, it is good to have the first word be one that is towards the beginning of the alphabet. Something like "Absolute." That sort of word would work for a lot of different types of businesses. It also sounds a lot more professional than say, "AA" or "AAA."

I use Absolute for the beginning of my business names. It puts me first in the Yellow Page sections of the phone book in which I advertise.

The old rule of thumb used to be alphabetical, but so many people are using the internet rather than the phone book now. Our leads from the Yellow Pages has dropped off 70% since the internet became a household item.

I would suggest something easy to remember and that isn't spelled crazy. That way if they use the phone book or Google it, you will be easy to find.

I agree about what you say concerning using the Internet. Most of my business comes from those who find what I can do while they are searching on the Internet. I put keywords in my ads on the Internet so that people will find me first or very near to the top in the searches for what I do. The name of your business doesn't really mean anything when people are doing searches on the Internet for people that do certain kinds of things, unless they know the name of your business.

But alas, there are still some people that don't have computers. Or, even if they do, they might not be on the Internet. That is why I still advertise in the Yellow Pages.
