I am 3 days late took a hpt and it was negative :( my cycle is every 28 days but last month it was 3 days early and it was very light compared at what I am used to so did I take it to early ?my last period was September 1

Eh you are cutting it close... it may be too early to detect positive levels of Hcg on a HPT. Hc doubles every 2 days, so I would suggest waiting 2 days from when you last tested and test again, if its still negative wait about a week (as most doctors offices won't see you for a missed period until its been a week). Then you could test again at home, if its negative and you still haven't had your period call you doctor.
