Well my sister and my mum got there cartlige up the top pierced together when my sister was 12, I'm now 14 and I've been begging my mum to get mine done since I was 12 but she allways said no because my lobes arnt completely healed and I've had them pierced for 8 years(only if I don't wear original studs)
But I convinced my mum to finally let me get it done, my sister has got 12 piercings now and she said her 4 that she's had done by a needle on cartlidge was the worst pain.
Does it really hurt bad because I'm getting really nervous and my dad says ill chicken out!:( :(

Getting your cartilage pierced with a hollow needle is a little bit more of a shock than when you get it done with a gun, but trust me it is better for you in the long run.
Piercing guns are not sterilized, and an unsterilized environment is definitely not how you want to start a new piercing. They have also been known to shatter some people's cartilage, and they do have a tendency to get caught on the jewelry, and when the person piercing your ear tries to detatch the jewelry from the gun, they can tear your ear. Also, when using a piercing gun, the earring is just forced through your cartilage, while the needle takes out a little tiny piece of your ear, making room for the earring.
When pierced with a hollow needle, it is much more sterile. They use a brand new needle on you, never been used on anyone else, unlike the piercing gun. The benefits of the needle are so much better than the piercing gun, and in the long run it is a better method for piercing.

It doesn't hurt that bad. Once it goes through the cartilage it'll feel like its on fire for a few minutes the it'll calm down
