Do you like being heard? Do you vote? Do you feel you should be offered the same opportunities in school, the work place or in sports? WEll if you answered yes to any of them, THANK A FEMINIST!! Freedom of speech really means nothing if you think about it... when all action is against the law or controlled. I mean, that's all anybody does anymore, just talk about it. If we really can elect another president because the one we have is a fool, then how come we keep electing fools? The last good and honest president was JFK and they killed him because he was going to totally level with us. Just all part of the illusion of a "free" society. Can you hurry then and elect a president that won't let us become another turdworld country because corporate America has taken what they want for profit and need to move on for bottom line reasons. IT isn't to say that we haven't been duped by our administration. For the past seven years there has been a twisting of rules and an allowance of limiting our personal freedoms. This is something that has been affected from the Supreme Court, the Appellate Courts and their rulings, as well as the judges that are elected to those courts. WE have seen a detrimental effect of an attack on laws that were put in place to protect our rights, and those who have needed it the most. Now we see how our freedoms are restricted because we are in a time of war, so this is the justification for those that disagree. Although the war is bogus and a completely different topic.

The feminists throughout history have not only helped themselves, but also many other minorities who were fighting for their rights as well. Many feminists were part of a movement to get slaves out of the south and into northern countries to be safe and FREE!! So before you talk about what you HATE, take the time to learn about history and the very reason you have the right to say that, is because of people like FEMINISTS and other supporters of freedom and rights for ALL.
MAgprob, bra burning is cool and yes the years with these conservative, greedy politicians have put a damper on all that has been fought for. This doesn't mean it will always be that way, things have a way of swinging in the other direction. The pendulem has been far too the right, for far too long..

be offered the same jobs as men. I am talking about the OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN. Apparently you haven't reached college, because that is where you really learn about history, especially women's history and the accomplishments that have affected YOU, yes you, and the availability to receive scholarships. TITLE 9, which insured that all women athletes would be given the same funding as male athletes and their programs. YOu haven't experienced life enough to have an educated opinion, you have a right to think what you want, but that doesn't mean you aren't ignorant. When you are old enough to vote, hopefully you will recognize that it wasn't always that way. Without feminism, or people fighting for the freedom to choose, women's rights would be limited and your life would be directly affected by it. YOur ability to use and have birth control, isn't because men fought for that.
The fact that you speak like you know so much, only makes you that much more of an unaware individual. I don't care what your opinions are, but I do care that they are unfounded and untrue. Women play professional sports, even if it is't football. They didn't have the funding, the opportunity or the rights as mens sports, without the work and laws put into effect by those fighting for it. In this day and age, women run corporations, and fifty years ago, the only women that were wanted in the workplace, were during war time when the men weren't available to take those positions.
Take a women's history course before you discount what you don't know or don't understand and then come back to me and tell me what you hate about feminism. Until then, realize that no matter what you say, it is uninformed gibberish...

Listen, I am the first one to speak up and say many thing should change in this country. I am also proactive in being the change that needs to happen. Many people have opinions and perspectives but fail to utilize their lives to help make change happen. I get involved in political campaigns, environmental groups and causes that help children and those that are in need. That being said, there is so much that has happened throughout history that shows that many positive things have happened in this country, and women have been a tremendous part of that.
YOU say there is no need or benefit of feminism. WEll here is a statistic to mull over.
IN 1971, before Title 9, only 7 percent of all high school athletes were women. This being about 295,000 women. AS for women in sports in college, they were almost nonexistent.
By 2001, 41 percent of varsity athletes in high school were women/girls, or 2.8 million. That means that the number of females in sports went up 847 percent since 1971.
This statistic I am referencing is from the National Coalition for women and girls in Education.

Tell the US WOMEN"S SOCCER TEAM THAT THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO WOMEN"S SPORTS MEANS NOTHING..

MOREOVER, it is proven that people (male or female) who are athletes in organized sports, are better students and overall higher achievers. IF you don't think this has an affect on every girl today in high school or in college, well than, you are just PLAIN WRONG!!
