Not only earth but everything rotates including sun.Nothing remains stationary in our universe.

The formation of star systems (solar system) follows the collapse of a huge gas cloud.
During that process small disturbancies which cause this collapse also cause the entire cloud to start rotating. Faster and faster as the collapse proceeds. As star and all planets are formed from that same cloud, they also started rotating. Rotating around the star (sun) and around their own axis.

Note that the entire content of the universe rotates. On star system level, but also on galaxy level, on galaxy group level, on supergroup galaxy level, etc.
