Hi,
I'm a single Mom on a tight budget. My hot water heater stopped heating the water. After pushing the reset button it workedd for about 2 showers. I replaced the thermostat myself and the water was really hot but didn't last much longer. The water heater is 4 years old and doesn't look rusted. What else could it be? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Leslie

If you've replaced both thermostats then check the eliments. Also set the temperature back to 120. Good luck, Tom

I had the same problem. More than likely an electric element is out. They are easy to replace. Shut off water, pull open the popoff valve. Drain the tank. You can get elements from local stores , they take about 1 and 1/4 or 1 and 1/2 inch socket. Turn off electric to tank, take wires loose and mark them to know how they go back. There are only two wires and one has three. Loosen the elements turning left. Put new elements back in turning right, tighten snugly hook wire back up , close popoff, turn on water, turn on electric. One of the elements will be burned out or be corroded by contamination of the water. Elements run about 15 dollars each where I live.

I just replaced the two heating elements, there were rusted. So I only spent a small fraction of the cost of a new water heater. Tested and works fine. Thanks to God.
