My old Roper electric dryer worked fine yesterday and last night. Now this mornign I went to turn it on, and Nothing! No sound.. Nothing? Any ideas? We checked the plugs, vacumed out the dust, still nothing. What else should we be checking? The washer next to it runs fine.

Are they plugged into the same outlet?
Usually the dryer will require a higher voltage/amperage and different style outlet to operate. Check all circuit breakers to see if any have tripped off.

They are in separate outlouts. If it is the thermal fuse per chance, where is that located?

Mine is in the garage (big grey box on the wall) but it may be in a utility room or entryway. If your house is older, it may be a fuse, but I'd like to think it's a circuit breaker. If it is tripped, turn it fully off and then back on. If a problem still exists, the breaker will shut off again and you should call a repairman.

Yes it could be thermal fuse but first verify that you have 220 from your outlet .

We think it must be the door switch as when he touched it, it fell into his hand! Sound r:) ight?
PS we checked the fuse box all was well.

Ah-ha! Self rescue... Is the switch broken or just loose?

After reading through some other posts on here- we found some info and saw that the switch itself is fine but, it is the actuator bracket , we looked it up on Sears website and saw the diagram and he took it apart. Ordered the part and good to go Monday!
