Hello. Well I have this idea, but I don't know if it would be permitted here or not. So I'd like to ask you guys, and if it was, would you guys be interested?
Ok... I kind of would like to have a contest for teens, about poems. Halloween poems. And see who is more creative. Just tell me what you guys think, and if it is something we can do here or not.

I know I don't have any kind of authority, but I love that idea! I hope it gets the 'ok'! :)

What about old people and Halloween poems? Why only teens?

I don't know, I just want to see if they're creative enough... but it would also be open for anyone else...

LOL... There could be prizes, you guys would have to help me think what.
And the judges could either be designated people or all of us who'd be in it.

No problem with permission... it would go here in Member Discussions. The only problem you would have is verifying that the entrants were teens. There's no way to verify age here.

So the best thing to do in my opinion is open it up for all ages then there won't be no worry about verifing age? What do you all think?
By the way I think it is a good idea.

Well then, I'll start with this little poem I just wrote.
Up from their graves I saw them rise high into the dark October skies
Over the trees they began to soar looking for the little children
Going door to door
Down they swooped howling and shrieking to the streets below
Stuffing the children into gunny sacks that they had in tow
As I ran for cover trying to hide, I heard one say,
"Trick or treat...Yummy tender children to eat!"

Awesome idea, I love it!! I can't wait to see what kinds of poems we get...
Did I tell you I love you today METERRE??

By the way yes I think it really is better to open it for all ages. Just one thing, you guys got to help in judging, and those things. And please if you've heard a poem before that is by a known author, it should be disqualified. We got to make sure it's their own creation.

Hopefully you are accepting suggestions :p
Give them like a week. That way if they want to sit down and write something special for Halloween they have a chance. You could announce it on the 'Announcement' board and say it will start on xxx date, give them rules (if there are any), etc.
Just a suggestion! :)

That's a good suggestion there. I will do that probably.
But I'm stuck on something. Someone mentioned if there would be any prizes or any type of recognition for the winner/s. What do you guys suggest??

The prize is in sharing it with everyone, and so is the recognition... and that would be time consuming and costly.
I think Nautical is right, this way it gives people to find out about it! GO COWBOYS!! HAve a great weekend everyone!
I think this will be so cool..

I agree. The prize should be the satisfaction of knowing your poem got ranked first out of so many poems. That should make anyone feel good about their writing.
Have a good weekend shattered! Go Cowboys!! :p

J-9 might have some pea-green t-shirts lying around. Those could be prizes.

Yeah I also agree recognition is a good prize... someone had mentioned prizes though so I thought if that's what they wanted then we'd have to think of something.
By the way, t-shirts don't sound bad.
