If we want to install Fire Damper in supply duct or in return duct...

For which duct we have to design?.

We know it has to be install in both the ducts...

But in some cases we have to install one fier damper that is in supply or reurn duct?.

If have any UL555 & ASHRAE BACK PAPERS please..

Is this in your house? The use of a fire damper is to slow fire from one side of the fire wall to the other. If its in your home just use a duct smoke detector to shut the system off. It shuts the system down to keep it from fanning the flames.

If you are going through a rated wall or floor assembly the damper has to be placed in the middle or side close to the rated wall. If this is for code do not forget to have a access in the duct for inspection and to reset the damper in case it trips.

Add a firestat in your return air duct would be the easiest. Smoke detector would work too like t-top said
