Hi, I know absolutely nothing about my appliances and all that "stuff" that's in the little room...
I just bought a house, I've been here for about 1 1/2 months. I have central air/heat, gas appliances, gas water heater, etc... but I don't know which machine does what. The AC and heat were working fine for the past month and half, and yesterday I went to turn the sc on cause it was hot and it won't turn on, neither will the heat. But my hot water works, the stove works - gas and the dryer - gas- all work. Like I said, I'm not sure what does what, but its not working...

I should mention - my washer broke about 2 weeks ago and water was leaking out of it - - I cought it and stopped the leak before it touched the "machines" but some water might have gotten into it. But the ac worked fine for about 1 1/2 weeks or 2 after the spill...

Also, I should mention that I am assuming the ac system is the same system as when the house was built in 1995 I believe - so its about 12 years old.

All this to say - what do I need to do?
Can it be water damage?
Is it just old?
Is it as simple as flicking a switch I don't know about?

I can decorate the hell out of a house - but I'm usless with the internal stuff...

Also, is this going to cost me a fortune??

Any help will be appreciated

Have you checked your breakers or fuses? Could be a simple as this

You need to first look at your breakers to see if any are tripped, if none are tripped, you also could have a safety device that will prevent it from coming on a fire stat or flood control switch, If you have a flood switch it would be found connected to your acs drain line with two wires on it if you lift that switch up than that is your problem. If you have a fire stat will be located in the return where your filter is it usually has a little reset button on it, it will also have two wires going to it start there and get back to the sight and let them know there are a lot of good people here.
