My question is if my child's mother is collecting FIB (welfare). When I pay my child support of $85 does she get the whole amount or just a percentage. Also, back child support if I have arrearges does she collect the whole amount owed or does the state
Get my back child support. Please help

Ok first of all what state do you live in, second of all $85 is not a lot so I am assuming that the state is not taxing that amount ( there for not % are taken). Second of all depending on the amount of child supported owed in the past months a % may be taken from that. Since she is on FIB, I am assuming again she has the right to take the full amount depending on the state law and circumstances.

In some states the state will take a percentage of the child support to help pay back for the welfare they are receiving, in other states, they will come back to you to make you pay a higher amount to make up for the welfare depending on your income.

But the main issue is that you pay though the state, that way you are given credit for the full amount you are to pay. If you are not sure, ask her, ask to see the check she gets if she says she is not.

Well the child support is $85 and the medical is $20 and back arrears is $20 so total it is $125. We are in RI. All she wants is money she hasn't let me see him in almost 3 years
That is why I am going to court for visitation rights.

As long as you are paying to the state, then you don't need to worry. They have control over the situation.

As for visitation, whether you pay child support or not, you are entitled to it, but you have to get a court order to enforce it.

I see I didn't know that most states still tax on that amount
