I let a family member use a credit card, she lost her job and could not keep up with the payment. I did not find out until the credit card company starting calling and leaving message. The family member told me that she had gotten behind when she lost her job, but when she started back to paying the credit card company she asked them to remove the late fees and charges. They would not, so she stopped paying on the card, because she said no matter how much she pay them the bill would always be higher the next month and the bill was not going down, so she stopped paying them, which was the wrong thing to do. So now the collection agency has filed a judgement against me and I can not pay this bill. I pay all my bill on time and every month. I understand that I am responsible for this bill but I can only afford to pay $100.00 a month. I have asked them to drop all late fees and charges including their filing fees for bring the judgement on me through the courts. It is no way I can pay this. I did some reading on "judgement" being filed in the courts and I found out that this debt would come off my credit report for nonpayment this year. I feel the collection agency want to keep this debt ongoing. I feel so total over-whelmed. Any advice will be appreciated or if anyone has had this problem, how did they handle it? I am 66 years old
