I'm a legal secretary/legal word processor in Los Angeles, CA. Preparing to move to the east coast and would like to work at home on a part-time basis. I performed a google.com search for home-based typing businesses and a million goofy business opportunities resulted. I see many people are asking the question as to how to find a "legit" business to work for and would appreciate your suggestions. On the same token, once I have been advised of a good source, I will post a general message for those interested.

Looking forward to your reply! ;)

Your best bet for working at home is to first establish yourself at a law firm or company. Once they know you are a keeper, ask for at-home work.

OR, post your name and phone number at area high schools, community colleges, and four-year colleges to do term paper typing. You could even add work as a proofreader (although you won't rewrite the paper). I'm not sure what the going rate is per page, so you would have to figure that out. Of course, this kind of typing would involve traveling to meet with students to pick up the paper and then return it.
