I am very surprised he wants your dog to mate with his. If he was a responsible breeder he wouldn't be interested in a stud without papers. Usually there is a fee AND you get the pick of the litter. But, that is usually reserved for a dog that is in high demand. I am assuming you are British? If I were you I would contact the Kennel Club and see what they suggest. 50 pounds sounds rather low for a stud fee. They also may tell you to stay away from the guy. I don't think 50 P is enough, even if your bichon isn't registered. You are in the UK. You should call the kennel club and talk to a rep and ask them straight out how much to charge. I guess this fellow who wants the breeding will sell the pups for a lot more then he wants to pay you, and maybe faulty papers along with it. Could be you may not want to get involved in this.

Ahhh Tickle! Great minds think alike! ;) I really think she should stay as far away from this guy as possible.

If you don't have papers on your dog, can you check for health and temperament in his parents and grandparents? What sort of puppies have his litter mates produced although it may be a little too soon for that? How carefully has he checked out your dog? To see what I am talking about, take a look at Woodhaven Labradors Articles (http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/articles.html#breeding)
