Often sinus infections can cause this I have heard. Have you been back for any further treatment?

Also if this is effecting your life in a way that you are feeling like killing yourself please call this hotline or speak to someone who can at least help you in that regards.

I have the same problem.. Hi, I am dealing with this problem that has pretty much taken over my life. My problem is I feel like I’m giving off a bad smell. I think it coming from my nose(its not an infection). I shower about 3 times a day, put cologne on, deodorant. When some people hug me they say I smell good, but when the get close to my face it seems like there face goes sour. Sometime when I pass people they cover there nose. I’ve seen about 3 doctors regarding this problem but they don’t see anything wrong. I know something isn’t right and I don’t think I can live my life for another 4 months like this. I’m going crazy... I think if we work together we might be able to help each other out.

I too had that problem. It started 3 years ago. I don't know what caused it. I was a social person, going out with friends and talking to people. When I started to smell like poop I started to stay away from people. I isolate myself so I would not be embarrassed when people hold their nose when they are in my face or around me. My friends say they did not smell anything but at work people tend to stay away from my area. I tried doctor's but they don't see anything wrong. I tried all kinds of stuff to get rid of the smell, Therabreath nasal spray makes it worst, now that I think about it it started when I used that product. Anyway, I recently tried something that seems to be working. I bought some Oregano oill (kills fugus) from the health store, I poured a few drops in a cup of warm water, dipped a q-tip in the water and stuck it all the way up my nose until I couldn't go any further... snuff it up (it may burn the first time). Then I dipped my tougue scrapper in the water and scrapped the back of my tougue as far back as possible. After while, you will need to spit out the clear snot that will be coming out your nose and mouth. Then brush your teeth and do not eat anything for a while. I guess it's best to do this before you go to bed. Repeat for 2 more nights. Hopefully this will help you too.

I can't believe there are so many people including myself who are suffering from this. I think the medical community should be ashamed that they've haven't address this obvious issue. Yesterday, I felt so low that for the first time I felt like life wasn't worth living. However, I do have hope that eventually people will realize that this is a medical issue and not a hygiene issue. I am a very clean, well groomed and considered attractive middle aged woman and I am the gossip at work because of this condition. I too am so embarrassed that I no longer have a social life because I've decided to isolate. I am going to my ENT in a couple of days and I going to ask about clinical trial that may be available because I've just heard too many different horror stories that I fear this might be a life sentence.

(sorry for my bad english)i am from the Philippines and also have the same problem its started when I am was 14 yrs old then suffer by discriminating and take insult by my friends and even my family. I become isolated, short tempered and sometimes violent, I attempted to commit suicide but I fail. It last in almost 10 years. Hospitals here in the Philippines are low tech, specially in ENT. I don't remember how many times I got checkup in a different hospital. But one day I found an ENT specialist who had experience on dealing with my case. He said to me that the hole in my sinus is too large and my lungs produce too much phlegm, so everyday passed the phlegm is stacked on my sinus and when it is stacked it produce a foul odor, he called it atrophic rhinitis. He suggested to me that spray sodium chloride solution (dextrose water) using syringe without needle everyday. After a few months it 50% works and continuing to improve. I also suggest that regular exercise ei. Jugging or swimming (when not cold), drinking 8 glass of water everyday are helping, and one last advise, overcome any kind of problem. That is the positive thing I learned with this kind of condition.

I positive it come from my nose, because when I breath by mouth, people have no feels. If I breath using nose, there must be pinching the nose.I also have a dental cavity on the lower left molar.Whether there is possible that the root of my tooth had gone bad?It is the cause of the bad smell?

I had a bad smell coming down my nose for ages. It was like a mixture of rotting flesh and faeces. It was so bad it would stink out the entire room. I couldn't go near people it was so bad. Finally I've got rid of it. This is how I did it. First of all, I started drinking lots of water during the day. Secondly, I carried an olbas oil inhaler around with me and kept sniffing it up my nostril. Thirdly, three or four times a day, I took a sudafed tablet and, an hour later, blew my nose hard and washed it out with warm salty water. Finally, whenever my nose felt blocked, I massaged the sinus area between my nose and cheek with my fingertips till the blockage eased (usually, a combination of massage and olbas oil would free the sinus within five minutes or so). It took a few weeks to clear it, but at last the smell is completely gone. I know how distressing this condition can be, so I hope this helps someone. Remember - drink plenty water! It's vital. I think this condition is triggered by dehydration - the mucus gets so thick it ceases to run down the sinus tube, stagnates and turns rotten. Above all, don't despair - it can be cleared. Good luck!

If its smelling like poop and ENT doctors can not see anything wrong with that end of your body you might want to go see a gastric specialist. You may have some plaque in your intestinal tract that is seeping bad odor up though your nose and mouth. Im not even kidding... I have heard of this before. OR look into having a colonic treatment.Life is to precious to be hiding away missing it. Take control.

I felt the same way about killing myself, but I could not go through with it. Sometimes you think it's gone because you don't smell it but when someone comes around they start rubbing their nose then you start to get self conscious again. The smell comes out of nowhere! I think it is some form of bacteria in the throat or back of the tougue. The bacteria is living and thriving on whatever you eat. I tried eating yogurt only with the live cultures and drinking lots of water for about 2-3 weeks. I lost a lot of weight but it really helped. Stay away from alcohol or anything that will dry your mouth or spicy foods and onions... that only makes it worse. I hope this helps. Please let me know.

My problem reappeared last September - bad smell from the nose. By pure chance I got my hands on some Augmentin tablets and tried them. Bingo! Job done! After years of suffering with blocked and infected sinuses and smell of **** coming from my nose, it's all gone! Get Augmentin - I don't think any other antibiotic works. Apparently the bacteria which causes this problem has a protective coating which ordinary antibiotics can't penetrate. Augmentin contains some sort of acid which breaks this coating so the antibiotic can get in and zap the bacteria. It worked for me anyway!

I don't have a bad breath. What I have is a bad smell that no one will smell. I am having it since about one year now. I need a physician advice on that. I thought that it was a sinus problem, but when I checked it out in a specialized book, I found out that I was wrong. So, if you can help me out, I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you so much and God bless you!

Hi there, I read your post here. I thought I was the only one suffering this kind of condition in our country as most people who suffer with this kind of situation are from abroad. I too have isolated myself from people or friends because I'm totally embarrassed whenever people around me would cover their nose every time I talk. I've been suffering this kind of misery for over 5years now and I really had enough of it. I feel so disgusted of myself that I rather just stay away from people rather than let them find out I am such a big stinker. I have a very good hygiene, I brush my teeth like 6-7 times a day especially after I eat something to eliminate bad odors coming from my mouth. I hope you can give me the details of the specialist who treat you so I can have my check-up there. Been to many doctors and since I'm too shy to really explain my problem to them in details I haven't gotten any resolution yet, they just keep prescribing me some antibiotics which doesn't help at all. I do have tonsil stones, if you heard about it and I think that is the culprit but when I exhale through my nose it smells bad as well as people tend to cover their nostril when I do that. Did you had an endoscopy done to find out what really the problem is? I hope you can give me additional information about the specialist as it could save me from years of humiliation.. im really lost and I don't want to suffer anymore, please help.. thanks

Hi, this post may be long, but I hope it does help a bit.

I have had bad breath for a long time, since my teen years. I didn't know it till a few people mentioned it, because it is true most times it is hard for us sufferers to smell the foul smells coming from our mouth and/or nose. And of course, like many of you I became self conscious and embarrassed. So, I sought professional help for my halitosis ( I didn't know then that's the term for bad breath). The first doctor, my family doctor, would tell me, he didn't smell anything. He had me blow through a special bottle that determines if one has bad breath, but the test was negative. A second doctor told me the same thing. A third doctor, told me I had no bad breath, but she did smell mucus smell coming from my nose and thought I had some kind of sinus infection. She pressed my face (between the nose and cheeks) to see if I felt pain and it did hurt a bit. She recommended a pill I can't remember the name of, however I do remember the side effect/allergic reaction of that pill; goosebumps all over my body, some of which I still have today. I believe it did help. However, I still had my bad breath. Once in university I visited the campus dentist who specialized in halitosis. He did a test (I believe it was a tongue swab) to determine if I had the bacteria (helicobacter pylori) that causes bad breath. I had an infestation. To kill the bacteria he recommended a treatment that is very expensive. I was determined to get rid of bad breath once and for all. Over the next year or so I had a couple of treatments that consisted of a substance that was painted on my teeth and in addition he recommended a tongue scraper and a special oxygen toothpaste and gargle solution. The bacteria count was getting low. But to completely remove it I would have to spend more money for other applications of the same substance. But I decided I would stick only with the oxygen products. Over the next couple of years I had little bad breath but I'm sure the number of bacteria was growing, so I decided to just accept my condition. With perfume, candies and gum and oral routine I managed to have to a have a social life and two kids. Years later, I searched for another less expensive solution and tried TheraBreath products. I abandoned those because I thought they were temporary remedies not cures. Recently I sought the advice of my new family doctor and she told me that a diet in raw fruits and vegetables is recommended for halitosis. I do consume a lot refined sugars, but am trying to incorporate fruits and veggies as much as possible. This doctor did blood work on me a year ago. I was thinking I had diabetes because my mouth is dry a lot but all I had was an irregular blood pressure.

I have started to research causes and treatments of smells coming from the nose because within the last year or so I have noticed that during hot humid days I can smell a mucus smell coming from my nose. I will try the recommendations many of you have posted: to drink lots of water, nasal sprays, special oils, and special yogourts. If all that fails I will seek professional help, perhaps I'll get my doctor to describe another mucus dissolving pill, or I'll ask for a test to determine if I have helicobacter pylori in my stomach, which could be the case if I have it in my mouth.

Before I end, I'll write what I just read about h. pylori. It is present in the stomach beneath the mucus layer coated with acid. It can cause ulcers and other worse conditions. It can cause bad breath. It is acquired by coming in contact with it and usually during childhood. This last part got my attention, because when I was little I was so curious (I still am actually) that I wanted to taste poo. I tasted the tip of my own stool. Also my siblings and I played with soil, I consumed bits of it during our pretend play. Could I have acquired the bacteria then? Possibly. But growing up in a tropical country I ate lots of readily available raw fruits and vegetables. Maybe consuming these did help to keep their levels low. As a teen I moved to a developed country, where I live now, and my diet changed. My family started consuming more animal products, more refined and packaged foods. Remember some people are more prone to catching things. No one else in my family has halitosis, except when they wake up maybe or when they have a cold. When people have a cold, water is used up in sneezing, coughing and mucus production. Also, speaking from personal experience, I can say that constantly thinking about this problem and being self conscious is not good. I have found that becoming more spiritual and being closer to God has helped too. As a teenager and young adult I struggled a lot about it but as I got older I was able to handle it more. Hang in there, this problem is not the end of the world.

Gosh another pill. Geez man, I've had this mess since 1995 and two surgeries later I'm still a ferris wheel of mucus. It's disgusting and I hate going anywhere with slime coming out all ends. It even drips--very fast--a lot of time when I bend over for something. If my nose goes south, its over. Gosh it feels good to relate to other people for a change.

Love this thread!

GOD... He will help us all... I pray, its in His hands anyway... Thank you Jesus! It seems to me that these 'sign the petition' things we see on the web... we should be able to start one of those and at the very least encourage doctors to take a fresh look at an old problem. Hey, I have a cardiologist in the family and I bet if I were to mention it to him, maybe he could tell me where to start. Hey, I'm an idealist and if someone can write it and spread the word then what's stopping me? :)

Ps.. I am slightly bipolar :D

I am having a problem with my nose as well, every time I exhale around people they cover their nose or move away also when I speak... sometimes I get an odor smells like poop. The doc says its my sinus but I'm using the nasal rinse also I had a endoscopy done to make sure it wasn't something in my stomach and still I am having this problem. I also try patanse nasal spray. I am so frustrated I hardly associate myself with anyone I don't know what else to do. Right now I've decide to just pray about the situation nothing else seem to help and I know God is the only answer right now so just to let everyone know trust him and let him take care of the situation

I too was having this same problem about a year now, I get embarrassed when people come around with their hands covering their noses even saying nothing until I discover this food supplement some days and I want to share with you guys because I know how it feels like, I found out that the problem was in the intestines. After taking the drug, I started farting out offensive which could last for 15min, after taking it for 3days I found out that the problem was no more till date.. so I think there is congestion in your system(digestion) which needs to be cleanse for proper circulation..
I was using a garlic capsules made of(odourless garlic powder, soya bean oil, gelatine, glycerol, colloidal anhydrous silica, water) and its treatment is 1.promoting healthy immune system, 2. maintaining healthy heart and promotes circulation 3. lower blood pressure,4. regulate blood sugar, 5 reduce of inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis... just discovered it 3days ago and am free now,try it!
GOOD LUCK

I had the same problem problem before. Both bad breath and nose exhale odor. the solution is to. get rid of your mucus/phlegm completely. the bad odor comes from long term of having mucus and plhegm,I drink huge amount of water everyday and do regular exercise and in the morning I drink 2pcs pure calamansi fruit before I go to school(after you drink 2 pcs calamansi. don't drink water) it will boost your immunity and get rid of your badbreath. do not use mouthwash with alcohol content it will just make your situation worse , that's why I use calamansi it has good odor and help you immune system, stop smoking. just stay healthy. Hello lol your not alone, I to get stare's and hear people talking about my problem at work make's myself esteem really low.. I have had to take Diazepam for my nerves now, getting too highly strung due to the problem having with my nose. I had asked a chemist if there were any solutions, so he told me to take the inner health tabs, but they didn't clear up the problem. I then went back to the chemist and they gave me a saline solution to flush out my sinus, but that only works for a couple of hrs. so still hopping for a cure. [email protected]

I recently ran into the same problem, I have been told it could be coming from the stomach... the stinch smells like waste. I'm a new cigarette smoker and occasional cocaine user. Just wondering if anyone has the same story.SORRY TO BE PERSONAL!

I struggled with this too for a long time. I prayed about it constantly and often myself had thoughts of "I would rather be dead than live with this." I knew it wasn't the answer, but I know how terrible of a feeling it is to never know when it's going to crop up and how embarrassing it is or can be.

We had no idea what the cause was, but my wife couldn't even kiss me sometimes depending on whether my breath - from my nose - was bad.

Even though we knew the odor was coming from my nose, I had my dentist do a $400 deep cleaning of my teeth just to see if that somehow was related. And that didn't work. I tried taking allergy medicine continuously to see if that somehow could help, and it didn't work.

I saw an Ear Nose and Throat specialist (ENT) and was diagnosed with a severely deviated septum. So after a $3,000 out-patient surgery I was convinced that was definitely without a doubt going to cure me. But it didn't.

Finally, by the grace of Christ, my wife and I discovered a common factor. Anytime I ate garlic (even a somewhat small amount), it somehow would always manifest itself through a bad odor from my nose. We tried this out with actual tests. On days that I had garlic I would have that bad odor from my nose from a couple hours after eating through up to several days (depending on how much garlic I had). If I don't eat garlic, I never had that odor coming from my nose.

It sounds odd, but that really is the thing that worked for me - cutting garlic out of my diet. Hope this helps!

A blessed day to everyone. I also am from the philippines. I'd like to share my "horror" stories with you guys who have been experiencing the same problem. Fecal smell coming from my nose started November last year. I used to be a call center agent (got fired because of my absences due to embarrassment and concern for other agents, since the ones close to my workstation could not do their job properly because of the foul smell I emit). People near me could not stand the foul smell coming out of my nose that they tend to transfer seats which are far from where I am. I was really wondering why the stink could be smelled from people across the room (our room was as close to a 400 sq. m. floor area) wherein I was considerably far from them. Almost everyone was disgusted of the smell and most would make face, call me yuck, bad breath, sh*t smell etc.. Until I lost the will to continue working since it affected everyone in the company. I could not smell how bad it is but considering how people react to it, gosh! I can't even find the words to describe how they react. Even in an open window vehicle (jeepney, bus, tricycle), the smell still affects all passengers I'm with. When I brush my teeth, the smell still remains. I have read articles regarding this problem and some suggested that I take sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) with my toothpaste or gargle it with water, but the smell got worse as per my observation. I even ate activated carbon but to no avail. I really don't have any idea where I got this nightmare disease. I hope we can all find a solution for this and share it with one another. God bless us all.

I'm also from the philippines. This February, I suffered a lot because of bad nose breath. I'm so stressed knowing I might fail and lost my scholarship because I can't study well. I cried so many times and thought of committing suicide. People make fun of me every time I went to school.

But life has to move on. I've searched online for some cure and I've found out these two products:

Grapefruit seed extract and tea tree oil.

I'm going to buy these things and hope it helps.

I'm going to update you if it really works.

hello donyademonya (nice nick!)! Just this afternoon, I made a saline

solution, something I read yesterday(1 tbsp. salt dissolved in 1/2 cup water. I also

mixed a pinch of baking soda), put it in a spray bottle and sprayed my nostrils

with it (6 sprays for every nostril) and then, blowing hard after 3 sprays. I'll

continue this for a couple of days. I'll keep you posted of the results. By the way, I

also read in an article that an ALOE VERA MOUTHWASH

prepare:

*an aloe vera leaf
*water
*baking soda

procedure:

extract the gel from the aloe vera leaf and mix it with the baking soda and water to make a solution. Make sure you mix them very well. U can add mint flavor if you want to.

dear,I know what it feels like when people around you make fond or stay away from you because of your condition. Never forget to pray! Never! Draw strength from your family and your dearest friends. There also came a time in my life wherein I wanted to live in solitude and leave my family behind because of what's happening. In fact, I still can't find a job for now because every time I try to apply, people look at me and cover their noses. As in "everyone". Definitely, the person to do the interview would want to end our conversation right away due to the foul smell from my mouth and nose. Even in the riding the bus or jeepney, I pity both myself and the passengers seeing the disgust in their faces while looking at me. But still, I always call to God for comfort. There's always hope.

by the way, I also read of the antibiotic ERYTHROMYCIN. I remember taking that med years ago when I had toncilitis and it's very effective. But dear, before taking any meds, please try to consult a doctor first okay?

one last thing, you might want to drop by mercury drug and ask them if a nasal gel is available. Might help!

keep in touch donyademonya ha.. "malalagpasan natin itong lahat" =) =) =)

Hi trini132435! Don't lose hope. I just went to a doctor (ENT) today and he promised me that we'll both solve my problems. He prescribed me of meds, for now I won't mention them since I haven't tried them yet, that I'll be taking for a week. Both for the nose and the stomach. The stomach because the doctor said that it might be an acid reflux. He said that if ever the meds won't work, an endoscopy will be conducted. I'll keep you posted guys! God bless us all!

I have had the same thing happening to me for about 3 weeks now I also had a burning sensation in my sinuses. I too had considered suicide ~ I went to church and prayed and prayed. Then it occurred to me its my stomach acid backing up into my sinuses causing sinus infections. My solution NeilMed sinus rinse morning with saline solution, evening with Grape Fruit seed extract (few drops)
(using the grape fruit seed extract helps to kill bacteria in the sinuses) and Priolsec OTC or even mylanta can help. I also went to the doctor and got some atibiotics to help with the sinus infection that the acid backing up into my sinuses had caused.

Hi.. I also deals with this kind of issue I like your positive attitude that everybody should do... I had this for 1yr. I experience being a topic on they're conversation 'insulted or even confronted by others... its so depressing on my part I don't know what to do until I read the other statement on other site he also deals with the same problem and just learn to him is that we must believe trust and have in GOd.. He is just tapping our shoulder because HIs been forgotten... I know it's a little weird but what I did is that everyday I started myself praying spicific that he remove the odor and phlegm to my nose snd to my throat.and now on my 7days recovery I thank God because for 1yr of dealing with this prob I took many advice and search took medication and do some stuff but only God Really answered my prayer... just hsve faith nothing is impossible to Him.. because God loves us.. last week my co worker asked me is it over what happen? I fail to say because God loves me msube becoz were not the ssme religion but having faith in our own God is the best medicine...

Good luck!

I I tried it and it really helps... TRUST GOD COZ HE LOVES US

hi donyademonya! Sorry for the delayed reply. I took the meds but to no avail. Continuous research lead me to H. Pylori. Please try to research about this bacteria. It's a possibility that H. Pylori is the culprit.I came across 2 forums about 3 weeks ago and the same horrible problem were experienced by our brothers and sisters.. some were suggesting that we take manuka honey, mastic gum, etc.. I didn' try any of it because of the cost. Anyway, I'll get back to you as soon as I receive good news. All right? God bless! Dasal pa rin tayo palagi. =)

I had been suffering from the problem of a bad smell coming out of my nose everytime I exhaled. I did not know the reason behind it but after 3 years I got to know that the root of my wisdom tooth had got infected. May be that is also the reason for you guys as well. Please get a thorough dental check up.

Hi there! I've been to my dentist and like what I've said earlier, I've had my teeth cleaned and the doctor doesn't smell any foul odor even before my session with him. As others say in other forums, THEIR DOCTORS AND EVEN FAMILY MEMBERS could not smell anything.

I have the same problem for about 2 years now, and I think I have a solution. This is just through my observation. Now the main objective here is to remove your phlegm. There's nothing to lose if you would try. Sorry for my bad english. It's simple.

Avoid Sexual Interaction and Avoid Masturbation for about 3 months. I have not been masturbating for almost 1 n half month and I can see the results. Of course eat healthy foods and exercise and drink lots of water. Always pray. Nothing is impossible in God.

Hi
I think I can answer some of you questions here. A huge claim I know. These problems are not what you think. The smell that you are describing is coming from your small bowel. I suffer with I.B.S I have experienced the same symptoms. After a visit to my doctor we worked out that during very stressful bouts of I.B.S this problem occurs and lingers long after the stomach settles. My problem I.B.S mainly affects my right lower side. What happens is you can develop a condition called bacterial overgrowth; the bacteria can release spores or sulphur that travels up through the gut, and into the back of the throat. This condition is normally associated with Acid Reflux. The bacteria in the small bowel produce hydrogen which in a large enough amount produce bad smells. The smell of poop that some people refer to is again bowel related. There are things that you can do to confirm this. Type in I.B.S on Google also type in S.I.B.O look through the symptoms list and see how many you have then organise for someone to investigate it for you. You will find that in most cases this gives you the answer as to what this is. As to how you control it well I've been trying to do that for years no success so far. Diet helps as does Esomeprazole which help control the gas production, Antibiotics’ will help in the short term to help control the bacteria in the gut. There is no magic cure as of yet that I have found but if you want answers then look seriously at the gut. I.B.S or SIBO is no respecter of age of class even if you have never had it before doesn't mean that you won't get it or haven't gotten it already.
