My Kenmore Dryer won't run unless start button is held down manually, but even so, won't dry the clothes. From reading on this forum, the problem is probably the circuit board/computer, as these seem to get fried. The question I have is that Sears accidentally sent me the part when I first owned the dryer... but I am not sure it is the exact part for my dryer as the part number is one digit off. Does anyone know if part number 3978955 can be used in exchange for 3978954. My model number is 110.73956102.

Have you looked at the part it is meant to replace ?

According to www3.sears.com,. 954 is the correct part.
