I am replacing a ceiling light - what do I do with the ground wire on the new light since the old light did not have a ground wire and there is none in the ceiling?

Hopefully it is a metal box and there is a threaded hole for a ground screw. If it is a plastic box, it should still have a green or bare grould wire. What type wire and box is there?

It had a metal box and I attached the ground wire to the screw.
Thanks. I feel better knowing I did it right.

I bought an older chandelier and there is no ground what should I do? I haven't checked inside the ceiling mount yet but it should be up to date.

Deedee don't post on another thread. I'm not smart enough to move your question. Best thing to do is to find a screw attachment point on the chandelier and connrct the ground wire to it.
