About two and a half years ago I signed custody of my then 11 month old daughter over to my mother because I was in an abusive relationship I could not get out of. The guy I was with left shortly after that, and then my entire world crashed down I was evicted and spent over two years bouncing from place to place. I have finally settled in and my daughter started school in another town. Due to the original case anything I have gone to court for the abusive man I was with gets as well. My mother is not doing a good job with my daughter and DYFS has been called by the school already. I fear going to court for custody of her and HIM getting it as well. I have money to pay rent and bills and for food and stuff we need, but not for a lawyer on this matter, so I have no idea what do do is there any one who can tell me how to get custody from my mother and not let HIM get it too??

Why don't you just be a positive influence in your daughter's life for five years or more until you are firmly planted in a positive new life style.

Ending a confrontational relationship with your mother would be a sign of growth on your part.

Staying away from loser men for five years or more would be a really big sign of growth on your part.

One step at a time to make a positive life.

Good Luck!
