What can the banks do if you just quit paying your credit card payments?

First, they will suspend your card and report such to the appropriate credit reporting agencies.

Second, the account will go their collection department. (If you also have a bank account with the bank that issued the card they may be able to access your bank account to make up any arrears.)

Third, if the account remains unsatisfied it may go to a third party collection agency.

Fourth, if all else fails they may sue you in the appropriate court (ie. Small Claims Court or a higher court depending upon the amount involved). If judgment is obtained they may garnish your wages or bank account or utilize whatever other enforcement remedies may be available to them.

If you stop paying the credit card, late fees, interest charges, over balance fees will continue to be add until they charge it off.

So, if you stop paying lets say, 1000.00 balance----late fee $29. + interest every month, go over our credit limit $29 fee, late fee $29+ interest on all of that . Lets say 3 years later they sue you now balance is $4500.00 + court and attorney fees add another $2000.

If you owe it pay IT!!
