Just a little heads up Sara: the internet is like the wild west, there aren't any rules. I say this to warn you to be wary of anyone you meet on an anonymous discussion board and to not give out any personally identifiable information. Real life friends are safer and better for you in the long run as it takes you away from sitting in front of a computer.

I wish we didn't have to be so cautious but it's a fact of life on the internet.

Have a great day.

NeedKarma is right, especially at your age. Choose your friends carefully. As far as advice goes, we will always be here to help you through it and you can tell us all about new real life friends. Good Luck, and get out there..

Hi,
Thanks for writing a question here.
Do you attend church? Are you involved in any activities outside of school?
Do you try meeting new people?
You can also, if you wish to began emailing with others, go to http://www.matchdoctor.com.
It's a free site, with free emailing within the site.
PLEASE be careful at actually meeting someone you email with; you could end up dead!
I wish you the best, and hope you find a new friend.

Welcome You could start by answering the questons already put to you and I've a few also..

1. What type of computer do you have and do you use it mostly for school?
2 What type of music or other entertainment i.e. TV series and/or movies are you interested in?
3. What is your favorite subject in school?
4. What do you think of life in general and things you wish could be changed?

So, it's easy once you get started, as another post said, you need not share anything personal, sometimes very dangerous, but you can at least state some of your opinions and ask or even answer some questions. We'll help you get started on this new journey and safely. P.S. I'm new to forums too, this is my first year at it, and if you ask me this is one of the best forms on the net.

Hi, Blondie,
Welcome to the site. Play around some, click on the links and learn more about it. It's a great place. You might even want to answer some questions, and give your opinions!
Have a great day.

Hi sara
H are you
I am 17 and can we make friends?
This is right that friendhsip on net is not so safe but it has some good thigs too.
U can share all your feelings without being identified and all you need is not to disclose your true identity until and unless you know the person. I have a friend on net I have never met.I go very well with her and we are in touch 4 3 years. Almost daily.so
Choice is yours.it's equally good.
Bye
Take care

 Very good suggestion.

I just want to add, if you must make friends through internet, take your time. Read their posts, understand their background/tendancies WELL before contacting them via e-mail, etc.. Good luck and best wishes.

I would like to say that I have been to what I like to call the dark side of the internet I have heard and seen it all, however with the good there is the bad and I do know people that I have never meet personally but know very well and I consider them good friends and most of them are/were on halo2(I don't play anymore) and I talked to them for many months and I shared stuff with them and vice versa. But just remember if someone wants to meet you(THINK ABOUT IT) especially since you are a little girl, not saying you can't defend yourself but history has shown.. anyway just be safe and if in doubt get out.
