This needs to be a new thread or else you will not get good responses. But depending on what kind of debt it is and what state you live in, probably not. You need to check into the satute of limitations (SOL)

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's thread. That usually causes confusion so I've moved this to its own thread.
A debt is a contract. You signed a contract whereby someone provided you with funds and you promised to pay them back. This was your word of honor that you would do so!
I understand that circumstances may have prevented you from paying the debt in the past, but NOTHING, not time, not lack of funds changes the moral and ethical issue that you promised to repay the loan.
