Troy built model 556- lost ability to engage self propelled feature. The cable is fine I took apart the housing attached to the handle and need to close it up . Are there any diagrams that will show me the correct way to place the line within the housing

Yes, and you would probably only obtain them through a mtd dealer that you have a good report with. There will be grooves and slots to route the cable.
