I keep r'cving this error message when I run chkdsk... Warning F parameter not specified. Running Chkdsk in read only mode.
After I have set the system to run a chkdsk at next boot up, it does but the errors are Not fixed.
Is there another way to find the errors and fix them... PLEASE HELP!

Run chkdsk /F
Without the /f it just prepares a report of the errors.

What operating system are you using - i.e. which version of Windows - and why are you running Chkdsk anyway ?
The simple answer to your problem, if you need to run Chkdsk, is to go to Start ! Run and then type in the command "chkdsk C: /f" (no quotes) assuming you wish to check and repair problems on the C drive. However, more information about your problem may allow people to give other and better solutions for solving any difficulties

Hi ray burnley
I ran chkdsk/f on my external hard drive. After pressing enter it deleted all orphan files. My external hard drive was corrupted that's why I ran chkdsk. Now when I run chkdsk it says on the screen "corrupt master file table.

.. continue
"corrupt master file table. windows will attempt to recover master file table from disk" how long will it take? And what does this mean? Does this mean all the files in my hard drive is gone?
