Okay, so I got pregnant when I was 15 and had a duaghter, I finished school and now am attending college . My daughters biological father has never been in her life never signed the birth certificate and never has did anything for her. I am now engaged to my new boyfriend of 2 years and wondering what it would take for him to adopt her if I don't have a clue where her biological father is. How can my fiancé adopt her?

You will need to contact an attorney or call the courthouse and see what papers you need to come get and file... but it's easier if you let an attorney handle it all.

The courts will order that an attempt be made to find the bio father. It usually consists of posting in local newpapers of your intent to have your daughter adopted. The bio father is given a certain amount of time to respond and contest the adoption. If he does, unfortunately the adoption probably won't go through if he protests it, but you could try and argue abandonment. But if he does not respond the courts will allow you to go ahead with the adoption.

Just to share some of my information with you, my brother is going through that same thing with his new wife. He receives disable and wanted to adopt her kids because that's the only father they know and he was told, she will need to find the father of the kids and have him sign his right off, there is a form you will need to get from the Social Security or Adpotions office for him to sign.

And no he does not have custody yet, because the gentlemen she said was the father was tested and not the father, she have had 3 baby daddys and not one tested.

Good Luck, Sound like a good guy you got.

If the farthers name is listed on birth certif. he would need to terminate his parental rights. If he is not a lawyer can handle the adoption.

The OP already said the father is NOT on the birth certificate. And it is not as easy as "a lawyer can handle the adoption".

As stated before, she will need to make an attempt to locate the father. Usually this is done by a posting in several newspapers announcing her intent to have her child adopted. The bio father is given "x" amount of time to respond... if he doesn't THEN they can go forward with the adoption.
