I have my distributor off an trying to remove my rotor. The how to's I have read mention cranking the car to expose a philips screw on the shaft of the rotor. I do not see a philips head screw anyplace on my rotor. Either the shaft or top of it.

Any help appreicated.

The #2 Phillips head screw goes through the side of the rotor and fastens it to a tapped hole in the side of the shaft. I haven't seen a Honda rotor that isn't attached this way. Feel around the shaft for the screw head--it could be on the bottom side. I use a WIHA magnetized bid holder, with a #2 Phillips head bit, to remove the machine screw. This provides a precise fit, allowing removal of the screw, without damaging the head and without dropping it into the distributor.

I was forced to remove (break) the shield behind the rotor. I broke the rotor off with a screwdriver and noticed it appears it just slips on the shaft without a screw. There is a metal piece that was inside of the plastic rotor that was attached to the shaft. I'm now wondering if it's just better to buy a whole new assembly that includes the coil, rotor, ignitor, cap. Think its about 180.00 online.

I'm going to be checking on parts today. Once I got the rotor off the brass piece inside had no holes going through it for the rotor to attach to. I think I can get a new distributor for about 180 online.

I just got a used OEM distributor for a 1988 Accord for $50 on eBay. You should look there first.
