:) Hey guys. I know I haven't been on here in a while. I have had a very busy and hectic last month or so. Anyway, I have a question that I need ask to see if you guys might can help me out. I just found out this past Thursday that I am about 8 weeks pregnant, and I have been having some pain in my lower abdomen on the right side. It really goes from my lower back to the front of my stomach down into my pelvic area. What my question is is should I be worried or is that normal? This is my first pregnancy so I don't know anything. To tell you more or less I am scared to death that something will go wrong. If you have any suggestions on what could be causing the pain or what I should do then please tell me. Also if you have any advice for a first time soon to be mommy please do tell.
Thanks,
Janell

Are you cramping? Or is it constant?

It isn't really like cramping but just a sharp pain, and it doesn't hurt all the time. But when I go to stand up sometimes it will hurt so bad that I can't stand to move.

I had horrible cyatic (sp?) nerve problems with my first that made it difficult to walk but it wasn't until the baby got about 20 weeks.
There may be some pressure on your kidneys that is causing the trouble. Have you called your doctor?
J-9 is a nursing student who is working her OB rotation and most likely will be by tomorrow and can give you more info.
All I can suggest is that you drink plenty of water, call and talk to your doctor and try not to worry (yeah right, I know)

I told my mom that if it was still hurting come Friday I was going to call the doctor and tell them and see if they could fit me in to see the doctor. It is hard not to worry about every little thing I have already noticed. I even thought that maybe I could have some kind of infection. If it is still bothering me very bad tomorrow though I may just go to the doctors office and tell them and see what they can do.

You could very well have a kidney infection or something else that needs attention. There is a great book called "What to expect while you are expecting." I carried it around everywhere I went. It keeps you from going crazy by thinking - what is that? Is it going to hurt my baby?
