My husband connected our ceiling fan/light and it has a remote control. By turning on the switch in our bedroom, the fan/light does not work. But if you click on the remote control and leave the switch to 'on' it worked. That worked for a week. Now it has stopped completely. No fan no light!! (even tried different battery in the remote control) all the
Other electrical things in the room work.

What could be wrong?

The way it was working at first was correct.

Since it stopped working entirely, does the remote LED light up?

Yes, the LED is working. I even put a new battery just to be sure...

Next check the breaker that controls this circuit. You don't have two wall switches in your bedroom do you, check both if you have two.

It's possible the fan (most likely the receiver) may be defective, did you just buy it? If so exchange it.
