I bought/occupied a duplex 7 yrs ago, soon after my finance became pregnant and I didn't want our son living in that neighborhood so I bought a house a few years later where I currently live. Both financed through Country Wide. Last year, being monetarily exhausted, I re-financed my duplex to get my credit card/misc. debt under control through AMC. Six months later I decided to sell the duplex so that I could move closer to my son, however we discovered that AMC bought the wrong mortgage from Country Wide, resulting in my house being paid for and the duplex has two loans on it, doubling in more than its worth. Neither mortgage company seem to want to do anything about it. I've invested hours on the phone w/ them and they simply blame one another. I can't sell it for what its worth, my poor credit won't allow me to finance my home and I can't surrender the title. I really want to relieve myself of this property, I've put a lot of work and money into it, however my personal needs have changed and this is really holding me back.
Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
