I live in Texas and had leased a Tahoe and turned it back in early as a voluntary. Capital Management collection agency then proceeded to call me and threatened me with jail, etc. Calls got really nasty, they did skip tracing etc and told people about my credit report etc. I have a lawyer suing them at this time. The account then moved on to another collection agency and they said to call them or get a lawyer. I got a lawyer in my home town (separate from the lawyer suing Capital Management) my lawyer said not pay them, that it will not fix my credit. That more than likely they will not do anything. They are wanting $14000.00. (I had paid $18000.00 & they sold Tahoe for $16000.00). They had once said will settle for $7000.00. I can't pay that. My lawyer contacted the 2nd agency and told them not to contact me, but him. Now I am afraid they will garnish wages, do they have to notify me of this ahead of time? I do not own a house but do own vehicles that have loans. Thank you.
