When arrested for public intoxication, what happens at the court date in
Lake county Indiana. If you were not driving can they still suspend licence?
What is usually the punishment?
Is there a large fine? Is the bail going towards court cost.
Please any info would be greatly appreciated>

First I will assume your state has this charge, Not all US states have a public intoxication law. In some you have to be disorderly or causing some other problem.

So I will just assume this is against the law there or you could not have been charged with it.

If you are found guilty, you can have the bail applied to the fine. It is common to do this. Locally, it is a minor crime, often the people get no fine and just community service ( working with homeless or working at a place where drunks are at.)

Officially bail is just merely money that the court holds, that promises you will show up for court. So officially that money is to be paid back to you after you appear. Often by almost magic, in the courts where I worked, the bail amount just happened to also be the amount of the fine.
