I have a 10 month old with vesicoureteral reflux. She was on amoxicillin and is now on Furadantin because there was bacteria in her urine 6 weeks ago. She is now said to have a uti. Does this mean the antibiotics aren't working? What should I do know?

I think the antibiotics could have caused it. The antibiotic kills all the good stuff in her body along with the bad and it can cause her to get an infection.

I believe this means that the antibiotics are not working. She may need another course possibly a different antibiotic.

I haven't heard of antiBs causing a UTI, typically they tend to cause a yeast infection.

This would be a very good question to ask her doctor.

Xrayman agrees: still may be because she was prescribed the wrong type of AB -so the uti is still not killed-off by the right AB

That was pretty much my point.
