Tried installing NetGear for wireless from CD. Installation locked up (computer did not) at step 3 (Activate Network). Have tried to install .several times. Turned off firewall, no joy. Installation will not proceed passed the Activate Network step even after allowing computer to run all night. I have the Netgear WGR614v7. Went to Netgear site, no joy there either. Have downloaded upgrade, but requires program to be running to install. Program will not run until I get passed the Activate Network step...

My internet access is through a cable modem. Hard wired internet access works fine. Laptop says NetGear wireless has good signal, but I believe because the program did not load all the way, it is not configured correctly. Thinking I might need to manually input the IP address but have not been able to figure out where it is. Used internet explorer and typed in 192.168.1.1 and got the log in. Typed in the default name and password and it was rejected. Don't know where to go from here.

You do not need to use the CD to get the router to work, you can manually enter information. Reminder: when you get this router out of the box, and after each "reset" to default, you need to either run that CD or manually take care of the settings. The Wireless Radio could even be turned off.

I found a great resource for anyone having trouble setting up a wireless router (http://vpncasestudy.com/setup.html).
