I can hard wire a light in my hall which I want to extend to a small hall on the other side of a door way to my kitchen. In that small hallway is a broom closet and washer and dryer(well not yet still renovating). I thought what I could do is hardwire either cable or flexible lighting in the hallway outside the bathroom, then run it through the wall to the small hallway in the kitchen which would give me one light in the hallway outside the bathroom and at least two lights in the small hallway in the kitchen. I have read you shouldn't run track lighting through walls. But nothing is said about running flexible or cable lighting. If you can't , why?

I figured with the cable lighting should be easy enough to make two small holes one for each wire. With support it shouldn't touch the wall. Same with flexible. With support it won't touch the one hole.

Does this make sense?

Only building cable or raceway is allowed to pass through a structure. When you say "cable lighting " do you mean the type shown in the picture?

If so, this cannot pass through structure.
