I was going to suggest Google DS from the many good things I've heard about it, but I don't know if it will search other computers on a network.

Check the helps on each one to be sure they'll search your network, then just try 'em out.

Google Desktop Search (http://desktop.google.com/enterprise) can index and search documents in text formats, as well as mail, audio and video files tags and images. To be remembered: in order to show the application which files and folders to index, you have to install an additional component gdetweak. Without this add-in Google Desktop Search will index the whole information on user computer and in the network of the enterprise that it can access. Google Desktop Search by right features the most user friendly interface. But the only way to fine tune the application is to install additional components. This is a major disadvantage. The promised search of documents with a similar content (in the Internet originally positioned as similar pages) is quite wretched.
Now I’m testing SearchInform (http://www.searchinform.com/download/searchinformdesk.exe) It looks good to me…
I’ll post my in my opinion later…

Download SearchInform (http://www.searchinform.com/download/searchinformdesk.exe)

Folks, I have download it and here is my opinion about it. This tool has high indexing rate, small index size (15-20% of the actual size of textual information). It supports all formats of text files, (including .pdf, html, messages from Outlook and Outlook Express, mp3 and avi tags) and correct work with archives. Search with limits allows to search documents with certain attributes only (by file size, by message subject, by characters in the heading, etc.). But interface is slightly overloaded with functions.
Diagnosis – must have…
More information about this program you can find on the official site

…and now, finally, can I hear your advices about it?
